In the early 1970's, hip hop was forming in New York City. Hip Hop dance evolved in the 1980's as dancers began to experiment with the popular "breaking" in the Hispanic and African-American communities. DJ Afrika Bambaataa originally termed the phrase "hip hop" because of the dynamic urban movement of the dance.
The words "hip hop" were used by MC's when funk or soul music came on. DJ Kool Herc (known as the "Father of Hip Hop") along with his sister Cindy Campbell formed the "Back To School Party." They danced to funk music and had a great time. Since then hip hop became a "worldwide culture."
